There seems to have evolved a competition among archaeologists in different parts of the world; they are trying to put their respective countries at the forefront of the scene of evolution of life through study of fossils. Archaeology is alone responsible to distort the history of human civilization in whose club presently Paleoanthropologists and Geneticists have joined to web a more confused picture of the ancient world.
A hominin baby tooth has been found in a cave in the Pyrénées Mountains of southern France, Tony Chevalier of the University of Perpignan, claims. The tooth is thought to be about 560,000 years old and may have been lost by a Homo heidelbergensis child, researchers say. A total of some 150 fossils of human relatives have been recovered from Arago Cave, including the remains of Tautavel Man, whose 450,000-year-old skull was discovered in 1971. Earlier Homo heidelbergensis remains in Spain are similarly reported.
Whole of Europe is the ‘second settlement’ of the migration wave from the ‘first land’ ; scholars who are trying to show a different picture for their respective countries by fossil studies need to concentrate rather on origin of the name of Europe. This name Europe which has been derived from Europa is well reflected in Eratosthenes maps. Story of Europa is linked to Cadmus of the Greeks whose sister she was and when he set out to find out his missing sister established countries on the bank of the river Styx, The first town is called Cadmea. And scholars should now find out this ancient place to reveal the glory of the ancient Greece and Rome.
