Bwindi has Afromontas lowland forest located on the eastern range of Uganda. It is one of the most important areas of this country due to an exceptional diversity that includes many Albertine Rift endemics. And it shares a common border with Sarambwe forest in DRC.
Name of Uganda has been derived from, as it seems, either from Ohind or from Gonda or Gundi of ancient texts; as it contains the Albertine Rift Valley in its descriptive notes, the name of Albertine refers to Alborg of the Avesta which has many different name-forms like Alaba, Elba, Alavi, and Elebe etc. Even Mt Alps in Europe is a corrupt name for Alaba. Alexander and Darius met in their famous war in history at this place. Pali texts call it Alavi which was a part of the southern extension of Mt Imaos; Mt Gerizim of the Bible was neighbourly to it and both were close to ancient Alexandria, same as Alsanda of Pali literature.
Name of Africa identifies the ‘frank’ tribe’s settlements of the ancient literature; and ‘Gonda’ which refers to a tribe as well as to the epic Gundi forest, was near Ur or biblical Uruk. Gonda also identifies Parthian king Gandaphares whose capital was at Kaphe or Kapil
Name of Afromontas sounds like ‘Prometheus’ and Bwindi, if similarly taken to be Bhindi or Bhandaghara, then it reflects a different geographical scene of the ancient world within the region of Mt Caucasus. But Mt Alberg was situated then on the south, and Mt Caucasus was on the north-east region of the ‘inhabited world’. In both the cases, Uganda is the second settlements of the ancient migrants.
