According to Unesco’s scholarship, the city of Colonia del Sacramento was founded by the Portuguese in 1680 on the Rio de Plata which faces Buenos Aires. Scholars see the ‘urban plan of this city coincides almost exactly with that of the Lusitanian “Nova Colonia do Sacramento”, notably with the period of greatest splendour corresponding to the first half of the 18th century’.
Name Colonia has its root in ‘Kolhana’ where the Saracani linked to the site of ancient Rome along with Pompa(-sarovara, means ‘image pond’) then situated. Both ancient Rome and Saracani were under the region of Kolhana which identifies Mt Imaos along with it. Origin of the term Sacrament points to this place Saracani where, of course, Temple of Juno stood. Ancient Rome was the birthplace of Rama, the God incarnated of the epic Ramayana. For this reason alone that this was then called the ‘Capital of the World’.
This historic fact confirms the geographical identity of Sacramento if name of Uruguay’s origin is seen through ‘Uraga’ means ‘Serpent’ or ‘Naga’. Seat of Kings of Ajodhya belonged to Serpent Clan, and they were also called the ‘Ajas’; as Romans were good-looking people of the ancient world with lustrous body, they were identified with ‘Ra’ or the Sun God, or Surya-vamsi kings. Here Plata which refers to the palace site of the Roman kings at Palatine or Pateli, identifies a ‘Tree’ in this name.
