Unesco’s writings on this heritage site reads, ‘The Bremen Town Hall and Roland are an outstanding ensemble representing civic autonomy and market freedom. The town hall represents the medieval Saalgeschossbau-type of hall construction (i.e. a multi-storey construction built to contain a large hall)…….. The statue of Roland is associated with the Margrave of Brittany, a paladin of Charlemagne…. who became the source for the French ‘chanson de geste’ and other medieval and Renaissance epic poetry..’.
This is another very interesting world heritage site which loudly speaks of its ancient origin in the name ‘Bamana’ (means ‘dwarf’), the Fifth Avatara of Indian puranic traditions; the Bible knows it as Baal deities, means ‘pygmies’. Biblical scholarship could not recognise Baal as ‘pygmies’ but termed it as Pagan gods. Indian puranas call them as ‘Bala-khiya yogis’.
Inscriptions at the Kleiner Roland in Neustadt reads, ‘“You have the big one standing there, we stand before the little one. We are not the big city, we are the little one and the appendage, but we are as much city as you are’. This is in one way indicative of the region of the Land of the People of Shorter Height’; historians misunderstood the meaning of Roland which signifies the Bo-Land which was then close to the border of Bethany, the root of the name ‘Brittany’, a paladin of Charlemagne. The French ‘chanson de geste’ and the meaning of ‘Saalgeschossbau’ refers to this Bo-region sometimes called Po region. It was a region in the neighbourhood of the Bethany, Women’s Haven and ancient Jerusalem.
Saalgeschossbau—Saal-ges–choss-bau/ means ‘Saal –gacha’ or ‘saal tree’. Name ‘Paladin’ itself stands for a place-name and it is associated with Pal-people and Pal dynasty; its history is also linked with Homeric epics and with Roman history.
On the opposite side of the Bremen Town Hall there stands the ancient guildhall known as Schuting; on the south-eastern side is the seat of Bremen Parliament called Burgeer-Schaft; on the north is the Church of Our Dear Lady(“Kirche Unser Lieben Frauen” or short “Liebfrauenkirche”). Bremen’s first town hall had been situated in the southern end of the block between Liebfrauenkirchhof (“Our Dear Lady’s Churchyard”), Obernstraße (“Highstreet”) and Sögestraße (“Pigstreet”).
Kleiner—Kunal/Kleing/Karuna/Kuru Nara means King of Kuru(Cyrus)
Schuting— Khatvang/ Khati/Saketa
Burgeer-Schaft—Vajra-kapta/Seat of Vajra(Weapon of Indra, the Thunder God) means ‘Seat of Enlightenment’.-kapta though name of a ‘bird’, it also means ‘kabata’ means ‘door’.
Kirche—means ‘kaksha’ means ‘room’.
Unser—Ansa/Usar/ means ‘a part’.
Lieben—refers to Laban priestess at Triveni
Frauen—means ‘bhauni’ or ‘Sister’.
Obernstraße(Highstreet)— Obern-straße/ means ‘Baruna-stabar means ‘Pillar/Place’.
Sögestraße(Pigstreet)— Söge-straße/ means ‘Swarg(means ‘Heaven’)-stabar means Swarg-dvara(means ‘Way’/Place)
Rathausplatz—Rathaus-splatz/means Ratha-basta(means ‘chariot-street’)
In the Bremen Roland statue in which a ‘bird’ is seen it does not stand for ‘two-headed eagle’; it identifies the Phoenix or the Benu Bird.
