Prof El Molto and Dr. Peter Sheldrick in a paper published in a special cancer issue of the International Journal of Paleopathology, are of the opinion that cancer was prevalent in the ancient Egyptian population. Their study shows more than 1,000 people were buried in the Dakhleh Oasis between 1,500 and 3,000 years ago. They suggest these Egyptians were infected with human papillomavirus(HPV), an ancient virus known to cause cancer in young people. Aancient Egypt is not represented by the modern Egypt of our times. History of Dakhleh Oasis is lined to both Alexander’s India invasion accounts and also to the historical accounts of Pallavas, same as Ballabha kings. Pali texts mention on Dakhleh like Indian puranic tradition. This particular Oasis was near the seacoast. As this Oasis was very close to a volcano, eruption from it killed more people than the cancer.
