Antiochus II married to Bernice, the daughter of Ptolemy II Philadelphus ; Berenice was also the name of the daughter of Herod Agrippa I , and the sister of Agrippa II. Berenice was present along with his King-brother Marcus Julius Agrippas II during Paul’s hearing at Rome. This name is indicative of his mother’s descent from a member of the royal families of Berenice. But biblical scholars see Berenice through the wrong interpretation of the name ‘malkayya’ and ‘molakayya’. Prasanna, King of Kosala is addressed with the name of ‘Mallika’; and it was also the name of his chief queen. The name ‘Mallika’ has been derived from the name of a flower called ‘malli’, and Queen Mallika was the daughter of a garland-make of Kosala. Mallika-rama was also the name of a pleasance in Savatthi belonging to Queen Mallika. In Pali texts it is mentioned as Samayappavadaka-tindukacira, where tindukacira refers to tinduka trees of the forest of ekasalavana. And Samayappavadaka stands for the name of the place where teachers holding different views on subjects gather there for discourse.
But biblical scholars view malikayya as ‘in the days of those kings’ (reading molkayya for malkayya), understand this to mean, ‘while the first three kingdoms are still in existence(the fourth Gk kingdom being smashed by the ‘stone’). This they say referring to the four kingdoms of Dan, which Daniel according to them, called ‘beasts’. It really identifies the symbolic names of the kingdoms as each of them identify name of an animal.
The two terms malakayya and molakayya refers to two different places: the former being in Kasi and the other in Malloi or in Moriah(identifying Jerusalem) respectively. While Mallika of Kasi was the Chief Queen of King Prasanna, Mallika of Malla was the wife of Bandhula, King of Malla . He was also a friend of King Prasanna of Kasi-Benares
