India should not be happy at the decision of the International Commission of Startigraphy(ICS) for fixing one of the three Holocene ages in the name of one of its state, i.e. Meghalayan Ages, at 4,200 years ago.
It is the decision of the body of a geological experts at the international level who divided the world’s geological epoch into three periods each with a defined name but calling the whole as Holocene Epoch; they see this invisible period at three different time-scale, and gives it points : 11,700 years , 8,200 years and 4,200 years which respectively identify the Greenlandian, the Northgrippian, and the Meghalayan Ages.
What is interesting to observe here is that the team of experts who seat on this peculiar decision of dividing the geological epochs of human civilization are not aware either of Ptolemy’s peripheral map of the ‘inhabited world’ or the historic origin of the name ‘Megha’, or the ‘Meghalaya’ whose origin again is linked to Sage Mogha, and the place of rising of the Star ‘Magha’.
Anthropocene Epoch should look forward to the ‘original place’ or the ‘first-land’ from where the ‘ancient migration’ started after the Great Flood, to fill up the rest of the vacant space on earth. This should be the ‘first point’.
The geologists were misled by the archaeologists’ world-views who have divided the ‘inhabited world’ according their ‘findings’ in different nations of the world which always bears a ‘nationalistic’ trend.
World climate report as prepared by UN does not show the realistic picture of the ‘world’ which has gone into Eratosthenes’s, Ptolemy’s, and Periplus’ maps. Without considering the versified world which is not far away from our time, just two thousand years before, it is unjustifiable a stand which ICS has taken and has put it in an imaginary time-scale to perpetuate its own theory which has no realistic base at all. The scientists are not in a position to explain Ulysses’ journey from Troy to Ithica, which was a real journey then.
In such a case, it is highly questionable to divide the visible time period of human settlements into invisible ones.
Ancient India is not represented by the present political India, and Mt Meru which was there up to Hiouen Tsiangs’ time(Mt Imaos or Tsung-ling) in 7th c A.D. simply disappeared within less than three hundred years only because Alberuni did not find it during his visit to ancient India. It was a snow-clad mountain and its perennial snow covering has been versified in all ancient texts, and Ptolemy’s peripheral map of the ‘inhabited world’ keeps at the ‘centre’ of the earth; and today it is completely lost. The biblical volcano identifies its puranic position in ancient India, and it is high time that the climatic change which altered the egg-shaped picture of the ‘first land’ having seas on its four-sides be considered as the first epoch-point.
Will ICS look into these facts?
