Pali text preserves important information on Roma; the latter according to this source, was name of four primordial kings. Romaka Jataka mentions that Paratapa was the name of the Bodhisattva who was born as a king of pigeons. And Romamukharattha country was rich in coral. This source also says that the people of Ramanna were then known as Ramanas; Rama was also name of a palace where Buddha Kondanna was staying. Pali texts sees that second of the future Buddha will adopt this name of Rama when he will arrive after Maitreaya Buddha.
Deity Rumkuni who was consort of Balarama, is identified with a tree; it was name of the seat of worship of this deity in Kosala country near Sagapa or Sagada mouth of the river Indus.
Mt Ramyaka of Indian puranas was to the south of Mt Sweta, or ‘White Mountain’ that identifies the ‘White Village’ and the ‘White Walls’ of the classical literature. The tree which the people of this country worship, according to Vayu purana, is called Rohini, another name for Rumkuni.
Rome as birthplace of Rama, the incarnated God of the epic the Ramayana, marks this place in the Ramanaka country.
The Buddha was born under the branches of this Rohini Tree which identifies the seat of worship of Rumkuni deity.
