Skanda purana(Vishnu Khanda,II) mentions Rama-tirtha along with Badarika-tirtha in one and the same geographical plain. Here identifying Mt Gandha-mardan, Skanda says that, it was to the south of Badarika ashrama, and the latter was situated at the foot of Mt Meru.
Skanda purana(Brahma Kh. Uttara Kh.) also speaks of Mt Gandhana as a part of the southern sea itself before Rama’s Bridge was built. This Mountain was lost after the Bridge was constructed. People started worshipping this mountain after the construction of Ram Setu. The most interesting fact on this Bridge is that Mangala Country which is considered as a sacred place was then situated on this Bridge itself. Name of places which are directly linked with this Ram Setu constitute a descriptive geographical plain. In it is included Pateli village(or ancient Pataliputra), where a trading class community known as pasumana were living. Asoka after being solemnised as a follower of the Dhamma, stayed in a palace which is called Managala. Pasumana community represents itself in the list of Servitors of Sri Jagannath Temple as Pasupalaka.
Sacred places or tirthas like Sadhya-mruta, Runa-mochana, and Kapi-tirtha were also a part of this ancient bridge linking Lanka with Ramesvara. Total number of places linked with Setu Bandha as per Skanda is twenty-four. And ‘Chakra-tirtha’ is one of them. According to the Avesta, Chakra-tirtha is one of its Sixteen-Good Lands and all the Good Lands were then located in Saka Island only.
Describing the geographical situation of this ancient bridge, the Skanda says that a place called Darbhasaya stands at the starting point of it, and it was on the west; on the east is Devipura
