Biblical ‘Canaan’ refers to a ‘Forest’, and it is the Kanvaya forest on the seashore where the Sun God is worshipped; the forest is also called Maitreya whose root comes from ‘Mitra’ means ‘Sun’ ; it originally is indicative of the place of hermitage of Sage Parsuram, and Pharaohs are descendents of this Sage whose time on earth marks the pre-Ramayanic age. The puranic name for this place is Arak-kshetra; and ‘arka’ is another name for ‘Sun’ or Rabi. There are twelve names for God Sun, identifying His journey through twelve zodiac signs in 12 months. From this name ‘arka’ originated the names like ‘arch’, ‘arc’ and ‘acco’ etc. of other ancient texts.

Sighting of this star promises auspicious results, and those who suffer from leprosy comes here to worship the Sun God at this time of the year. The Star Mogha rises in the month of Magha(Feb-Mar) in the eastern sky and on the seventh day of this month people congregate at this place on sea shore to worship the God on the bank of the river Chandrabhaga(Scamander). A fair is held every year at this place and on this seventh day itself.
Seventh of Pasha means seventh day of the month of Pusha after which comes the month of Magha; during the time of the Exodus, perhaps, seventh day of month of Pusha coincides with the seventh day of Magha after a gap of, say, some thousand years. It mentions a gap of only one month.

Name of Rabbis pinpoints ‘Rabi’ or the ‘Sun’; and Rabbies here stands for the sun-worshippers. Name Arabia has been derived from this ‘Rabi’. But again the name has been misunderstood.
