Today, Odisha’s most read vernacular newspaper, the Sambad, has published an article of Haraprasad Das, a renowned scholar, poet, and columnist of the state, on the Sun Temple : ‘Advitiya Konark’ means Konark is second to none.

Two weeks before I gave one article to this newspaper by going to its office and handing over my article personally to the person in- charge of the editing ‘Page’ whose headline is , ‘Konark, Sri Jagannath, and Lingarj Mandira : Eka Lupta Bhugolara Prasthabhumi’, means the above said  ‘three’ temples are collectively a part of a long lost ancient ‘geography’.      

As a research scholar on this topic and as I am working on Ptolemy’s Maps and his Geography, I just pointed out that Mt Sumeru, ancient Ujjain( same as Lanka, as both share the same latitude), and Sthaneswara, same as Konark and Uttara Kuru, stand on a straight line, the Prime Meridian of ancient India. Present Political India is not the same as ancient India. Konark temple thus identifies the City of Sun, which according to Vergil, was near Panchaia, or the present village Panchana.

Wonderful records on this temple exist in Homer’s epics itself. Sthaneswar is same as Sthanu-tirtha, it marks the ancient home of the Israelites who were anciently called ‘Adat Israel’, or the ‘Adayitas’. Parsurama tirtha, and Renuka tirtha etc. are no more there to be seen. Very interesting stories are out of reach of the general readers who will not believe if it is told today. It is the seat of human civilization, and I have written a book on it. Ancient ‘Sri kshetra’ which Hiouen Tsiang visited, marks this Sun Temple at Konark; but people take it as Sri Jagannath Temple at Puri.

Ancient Ujjain is in Odisha on the bank of the river Daya, or the river Indus. On ancient Ujjain, once I wrote a letter to Director of Institute of Physics at Bhubaneswar to measure the latitude of Konark and other places to identify ancient Ujjain. I also wrote another letter to Prof Narlikar who very warmly responded, and helped me to contact one Prof in Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. I stopped at this point for some other reasons. This is a very big story, and I have to stop it here now.
