Unesco’s writings on this heritage site is very low and scanty, though its historicity needs much academic attention to terrace out the lost route of ancient migration to Europe.
Gulf of Porto is a part of the Corsica Natural Park which occupies the Scandola peninsula.
Origin of Corsica lies in ‘kasika’(or casia); name of a tribe, name of a flower/tree, and name of a place in ancient times. Story of ‘kasia’ is linked to the story of cinnamon; scholars relates this name kasia to Hebrew kezia; Egyptian texts mention cinnamon as one of the ‘marvels of the country of Punt’(origin of the name ‘Piana of the heritage site). The Periplus finds no difference between cassia at Mosyllum and Opone.
Scandola refers to ancient ‘Skanda’(means ‘ God Chemosh’ of the Bible) settlements which is as same as the settlements of the Scythians; it may means ‘Scamander’ means ‘Chandra’ or the Moon/or Soma. Scythians were worshipers of Scanda or Chemosh; their settlement was near Mt Gerizim, and Gaza; Girolata of the heritage site identifies the Garo or the Gargi tribe in the plains of the river Gaza(as same as the river Ganga). Its history can be linked to people of Allakapa as they were ancient neighbours of Kasika. Name Aleria has been derived from Alakappa of Pali literature;
The administrative division of Corsica refers to pagi and pieve; but the real meaning of these two words identifies the ancient migrants’ hometown in Kasika. pagi means ‘headdress’ and pieve means ‘paba’ means the ‘bud’ of the cassia tree. Both are important as they are attached to the history of both cassia and cinnamon.
Casia or Corsica’s historic relationship with Kasi, Kusi, and Kausiki has not gone into academic research. It is not right to say that Corsica has been occupied continuously since the Mesolithic era. It has a defined history when the place is seen as sitting neighbourly to ancient Turks at the foot of Mt Sumeru.
Scholars claim its root in one of the names: Kalliste, Corsis, Cyrnos, Cornealis, or Cirne. Some others say Corsica has been derived from Greek ‘Seirinoussai’ (does not mean ‘Sirens’); all the cited names are different from each other and they do not represent Corsica at all.
Corsica island consists of two departments : Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud with its regional capital in Ajaccio. Bastia is a French commune in the Haute-Corse. Bastia is a ‘title’ and it also refers to ‘vasta’ means a ‘settlement’; ‘sud’ mainly identifies ‘Sudarsana’ which is the other name of Baranasi or Bernice of the Bible. Its textual relationship with Kasi is inseparable. Aja means the ‘Serpent’ and Corse marks ‘Cosi’ or ‘kasii/Kashi the Kissioi people of Ptolemy.
