Unesco’s view is that Sarazm’s archaeological site in Taziki-stan bears the testimony of 4th o 3rd c B.C settlements in Central Asia. And the meaning of Sarazm, according to Unesco’s scholars is ‘where the land begins’; the important factor here according to scholars is that the people of Sarazm maintained their trade relationship with Iran, with people of Indus Valley, and with people staying ‘as far as Indian Ocean’.
The outstanding view on Sarazm’s ancient urban culture is supported by its commercial relationships with various regional geographical partners like Mesopotamia, and people of Indus Valley plateau and Iranian plateau.
Here again the scholars confuse when they take the name of Trans-Oxian people’s trading with Sarazm, and call Mesopotamian people as Elamites, and India Valley becomes ‘Indus world’ in Unesco’s writes-up on Sarazm. Use of the term ‘Eurasian Route’ with Sarazm has been stressed here.
Unesco’s literary attempt on this archaeological site’s reflects its confusion that put ‘whole’ of the ‘inhabited world’ along with Sarazm. The Periplus does not mention this name Sarazm but talks of Saracens or Sarakana and Saraganus while mapping the maritime trading history of the ancient world.
The most important factor for world history lies in the term ‘Asia’; and how this name originated and what is its root should have been the ‘base’ of the archaeological study of Sarazm, and this is absent here in Unesco’s literature.
The word evolved from the name ‘Assien, or Accesine that marks most of the places of the ‘inhabited world’ with it. This identifies a goddess in this name and also the place of worship in this name.
Sarazm certainly reflects on the Sajru valley of the Bible and Saraju river of the epic Ramayana; this river’s origin marks Lake Manasseh. And this river was then linked with the river Indus as well as with the river Saraswati. Saracena was a place on the bank of this river that identifies Caspian Sea, Troy, Mesopotamia or the Kingdom of Mesh and Aruneh that identifies ancient Iran.
What is Tazik or Tazik-stan from which name of its inhabitants can be peeped into? If Sajru Valley becomes Sarazm then the people of Sarazm pinpoints their seat of residence at Troy itself that identifies ‘Ajas’ or the ‘Serpents’ clan people of Ajodhya. If it identifies Aram, then also the river Sajru plays an important geographical link with the places mention along with Sarazm in Unesco;s literature.
